A recent article in the West Australian newspaper provided shocking statistics about higher education graduates. The Australian Industry Group surveyed 500 employers and more than 40% of them confessed to being disappointed with the basic literacy skills of higher education graduates. This is a particularly disturbing result as hiring managers insist on perfection in spelling and grammar, especially on the resume and cover letter.
